Yen Tu festival’s opening ceremony

The Yen Tu Buddhist relic in Quang Ninh province was mobbed on the first day of the Yen Tu festival, February 23, when more than 100,000 people flocked to the site to worship King-Buddha Tran Nhan Tong, the founder of the Truc Lam Yen Tu branch.

The Yen Tu festival will take place for three months. Organizers expect to attract 2.7 million pilgrims.

After dragon dance and drum performances, representatives of the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha and local and central government officials attend the ritual to worship King-Buddha Tran Nhan Tong.
